{Presents}

My kids love presents! Aunt Sarah recently sent them a package in the mail and the kids were so excited to open it! She always sends the best gifts!

Hayes was very carful opening the package because Sarah warned them it was glass.

She got them each the cutest little glass figurines from a glass museum in NY.

Parker got a ladybug and Hayes got the mouse. They love them!! Thanks so much Sarah!! We miss you!

{Hammers}

Hayes has a hamster that he had fondly named Hammers. It was a gift from GG and Papaw. He's a new addition to our family but has quickly become a favorite of Hayes's. He sleeps with him every night and kisses him before bed. Just yesterday I walked in to this.

Hayes was giving Hammers a bath in the sink and brushing his fur nice and smooth. It is so sweet to watch!

{swimming}

We are so lucky to have BG and Grandad's pool to swim in during the summers! Tonight the kids were having fun making a mini pool out of a tub. Some how they both fit. Crazy kids!

{identity}

Over the past week, God has really been challenging me on my identity. I have been finding myself constantly doubting who I am based on what others around me are saying. These aren't the build you up kind of people, these aren't my family members or even my closest friends, but those people who are just in my life because they have to be. Those people who are hard to love and hard to be friends with . Catch my drift?

I am all for surrounding myself with Godly, life-giving people and I strive to be that way to everyone I come in contact with but it doesn't always work out that way. There are those people who just want to bring you down. They don't see the good in all people and all things and will let you know what they are thinking. Those are the people I have been listening to.

I had to ask myself recently, WHY and I putting so much stock in what they have to say about me? Why am I listening to what they have to say as opposed to listening to the promises from God and who HE says I am! He is my creator, redeemer, father and knows me better than anyone else.

I was reminded of a study I recently did on Abram and it said that "As Abram called himself by the promises of God, "he was strengthened in faith" and saw the promises come to pass." I pray I can use this time to become strengthened in faith and truly pray the promises of God over my life! "What we believe about ourselves will either bind us or launch us." I will not be bound my the lies of my enemies but want to focus on God and his plan for my life and see where he leads me!

{lake murray}

This past weekend we took a mini-vacation to Lake Murray with GG and Papaw. We love the lake! There is something so relaxing about being out there with nothing to do but relax. Parker was so excited to "go on vacation" and was counting down the days and hours until we were leaving!
It was great to get to spend time swimming with the kids! We had a blast!

GG was a trooper and swam all day with the kids! They loved it!

Hayes...our lil Yankee fan! They kids could eat anything they wanted because we were on vacation...and they did!

Parker and Hayes...best buddies!

I love this picture! Just shows a kid being a kid. Silly guy!

Papaw and Parker

We went on a scavenger hunt for firewood and built a fire for Smores. The kids loved it, but Papaw was a nervous wreck (which you can imagine, Blake and Sarah)!

Riding on the tube with GG!

We had the best time this weekend! We are blessed with the most amazing kids and have a blast with them! We feel so blessed to be able to spend time at the lake as a family!

{blessed beyond words}

I have been traveling a lot lately for work and have spent 10 nights during the last month in a hotel room away from my husband, kids and home. What I have learned during our time apart is that absence truly does make the heart grow fonder!

I have missed them all the way to the core of my being! I have missed the dirty diapers, bath time, cooking dinner, doing the laundry, tucking them in bed, reading them stories, and every little task that we as mothers perform on a daily basis. It sounds so silly but those mindless, mundane tasks remind me of all the wonderful things im blessed with! They mean that I have been blessed with clothes to fold, and a beautiful house to keep clean, and food to feed us. More importantly I've been blessed with the most beautiful children in the world! I don't want to miss a minute of time with them because they are just growing up too fast.

I am also blessed with the most amazing husband! He is the most important person in the world to me and I cherish our time together. All in all I'm not trying to brag but I think I have the best life! I wouldn't trade it for anything!

{love our walks}

We love our evening walks! The kids love to be outside and want to go on walks every night! Tonight Hayes wanted to ride in the wagon but decided he wanted to pull it. That kid about wore himself out pulling that wagon all the way home!

{looooooongest stairs ever}

Heading into the Atlanta americasmart building from the MARTA you have to go up one of the longest escalators I've seen in my life. Unfortunately it was not working and I had to walk the stairs! Check this out...

{away for a few}

The next 5 days I will be spending my time here...

Top of building 2 on the 18th floor at Atlanta market. I'm sorry I won't be able to post because they are working me to the bone. Well, that and I am exhausted by the time I get out of here. I'll be back next week. Don't miss me too much!

{submission}

This past Sunday we heard a sermon on submission that has really spoke to me in so many ways. I have never heard it put in such a way and for the first time the light bulb went on and something clicked inside me. I am still processing but I wanted to share a few points. (I was going to try and put a link for you to hear it yourself, but it's not uploaded yet)

"3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, 6like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear." 1 Peter 3:3-6

What Submission is: The divine calling of a wife to HONOR and AFFIRM her husbands LEADERSHIP and help carry it through accourning to HER gifts. A HEART to follow and an inclinations to yield to his leadership.

What Submission says: I delight when you take INITIATIVE for our family. I am happy when you take RESPONSIBILITY for things and LEAD in love. I can not FLOURISH when you are PASSIVE and I have to make the family WORK by myself.

I have been repeating these statement and reading them over and over again. I hope to continue to process and grow in my submission to Zac. I know it is only possible when I fully eliminate all anxiousness and worry in my life. I hope to be "clothed with strength and diginity; [and] can laugh at the days to come." Prov. 31:25

{Hayes the worker}

Hayes is one of the hardest working kids I know! Anytime he sees Daddy and Mommy working he jumps right in to help.

Cleaning up the floor after he made a mess.

Then I took away the 409 and I caught him using his OJ to clean up. Good intentions but not the best choice.

I love Hayes's heart and his servant attitude.

{friends}

I loved seeing Hayes and Jae playing together today. They are so sweet to each other (most of the time) and play really well together! Here they are holding hand. I'm sure there will be a point that this will be so uncool but for now it's really sweet!

{haircuts}

I had it with my kids hair so we went to the mall and they both got haircuts. Really I was just intending to cut Hayes' hair but Parker has been begging to get her hair cut for a long time so she got hers cut too.

Cute lil summer bob (it's what she wanted. And the girl knows what she wants.)

Nice pic on the iPhone, but you get the picture. Much needed summer cut for the boy who can sweat thinking about going outside.

Fun Friday night out with the Gladhills!

{just one of those days}

This week I had just one of those days. You know when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, in a funk, with a bad outlook, down in the dumps, blah. You get the picture. Or should I go on?

It started just fine. Got up, had my shower, got ready for work, had my special morning time with Parker and then as I was driving to work. It hit. I began to doubt my choices, my life and really let myself have it. I began to beat myself up over the littlest things and it just grew and grew. I sulked around work not even talking to a single person in my path. Put my ipod in my ear so they wouldn't talk to me.

I called my Zac to meet him for lunch. Got to lunch and sat down to tell him about my pitiful day and all I could do was cry. Sitting in the middle of chick-fil-a. Cried to the point I couldn't even tell him why I was crying or how I was feeling. (He caught on to that part pretty quickly).

A sweet worker there came over with a cup of ice cream and said "Ma'ma, I'm not sure why you are crying but you sure look like you could use some ice cream." *snif, snif* "Thanks"

As I thought about it, I knew what was making me cry, but not WHY I was crying. The circumstances that were making me cry quickly came to my mind, but I wasn't sure why they were making me so upset. I'm not saying it's not okay to cry becasue I truly believe it is good to cry, but I know it's better to trust our loving, heavenly father!

As I drove away from that lunch, I just wept in my car and was pleading with God to help me to see his hand in all of this. I kept asking "why God, why me, why now, why, why?" When I changed my question and asked "What am I missing?" all unrest stopped and clear as the morning I hear the holy spirit say "ME." I startled and looked around to make sure I was hearing what I thought it was. Sure enough, it came again. "ME." It immediately sank it what the Lord was trying to tell me.

I had focused on the strife, the negative, the bad feeling, the pain - instead of focusing on His love, His plan, His holiness, His desire to see me prosper. To my mind came the verse - "All things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28. I desire more than anything to walk in His path, His plan for my life and instead of trusting Him I began to doubt my decisions and actions and ultimately doubt His plan.

As hard as that is to say, that's the truth. I'll admit it and lay it out there for all (2 of you) to see...I doubted God. I know now that doubt came from "missing God." I have been away from His word and not listening to Him on a daily basis and in crept Satan to cause strife and doubt in my life. Praise the Lord I noticed it quickly and can turn back to Him! But I am reminded that we have to stand guard against the attacks of this world and not stray from His promises! We have to ferverently study His word. We have to be in constant communication with Him.

Are you "missing Him"? Turn to Him. Run to Him. Fall on your face and worhip our loving Father who no matter how far we have gone or how much we have doubted, is always there with open arms ready to accept you back.

Declaration for the day: "And I speak to this day and I call you blessed. And I declare that I serve a mighty God who today will do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all that I can ask or think. I say you are a good God and I eagerly anticipate your goodness today."
-From "Igniting Faith in 40 days"

{Hayes Quillen}

Where do I begin...Hayes Quillen is 2 years 5 months old and thinks he is 4! He is such a BOY in every sense of the word. Anything to do with bugs, balls or guns he is all about it.

Hayes looks exactly like his mommy and acts exactly like his daddy! Mrs. Mary who has watched both of my kids since they were born say that she has never watched two siblings who are more alike than my two. Hayes has a strong personality and knows what he wants! For the longest time we were worried because he wasn't talking, but in the past month he has not only started putting two words together, but he is now putting 3 words together!

Hayes loves to help in any way possible, especially when it's helping his daddy "work". I love to see them working together and know that God will continue to grow their relationship. I feel so fortunate to have such an amazing husband and role model for my kids and specifically for my son.

Hayes has no fear! He has done the most crazy things. One time I caught him half way up as he was riding the garage door. He was hanging in mid air and laughing the entire time. He has been jumping off the diving board the past 2 summers. This kids going to give me a run for my money!

He has "the look" perfected and can throw a temper tantrum with the best of them!

But he is also a sweetheart and loves to snuggle! He loves his sister so much and they are the best of friends.

I am so blessed to call Hayes my son and have loved seeing him grow up into a big boy! Thanks God for sending me such an amazing boy!

{friends!}

Tonight the kids had the best time playing with their sweet friends Cole and Jae! Parker and Cole are 6 months apart and Hayes and Jae are only 2 months apart! When they are together it's is non-stop entertainment! We are so excited that they will be living within walking distance very shortly. Our kids have been so excited to ride bikes to their house and get to play with them everyday! (just kidding guys, we'll just come over 5 nights a week)

This was all that Jae would give me. :)

Cole was being silly!

Parker smiling for the camera

Hayes was "shooting" his golf club

Bathed and snuggled up ready for bed.

Thanks guys for coming to play!

{4th of July}

Despite the tremendous rain in the forecast, we were about to have a GREAT holiday with our family! We decorated cookies and were even able to cookout with our family!

{Parade}

The kids were in a parade in GG and Papaw's neighborhood. All the kids decorated their bikes and wagons and scooters and waved their flags. They had a great time!

It was perfect weather through the whole parade!

Until we got to the park and it started to sprinkle.

Then we all got soaked but what a great excuse to play in the rain!

Happy independence day to everyone! Enjoy!
