{iphone app}

so, for those of you who have iPhones i found a new app that I am addicted to. it's so stinkin' simple, but I can't stop playing it. I am really behind on tech stuff (no facebook page here) so you probably all have this one already, but if you don't you have to get it! It's called Flight Control and you basically land different size aircraft on different runways. Sounds simple and silly, but I promise it's fun! and...only $.99! Check it out!

{hayes quillen}

10 things to know about Hayes:

1) He just turned ONE! His birthday is feb 19th and boy has time flown by, but also seems like he's been around forever! I don't remember life with just one child. Man it was easy!

2) He is a snuggler! Loves to cuddle, snuggle, and love on you. That is something I will miss as he grows up and get too cool for snuggles.

3) Was not the easiest baby and still has his moments. Lets just say this kid likes to cry. We know he's just trying to communicate something, but I wonder how much one kid can cry. Of course he is always perfect with everyone else...I'm starting to think its me. (again likes to snuggle and be held. see how it's all fitting together)

4) Suck is LEFT thumb and his left thumb only. Neither Zac or I were thumb suckers so this one baffles me. Zac was hoping this was an indication that he would be left-handed and would same day be a left-handed pitcher in the majors, but it's not looking so.

5) His name...many ask where it came from. Hayes is a name that I have loved for years and really was the only name zac and I could agree on. Quillen was my grandfather's middle name and he was probably the most loving, respectable man I know so we were honored to give him his name.

6) He is a spitting image of me. I need to post a baby picture of mine and his next to each other, but poor kid looks like his MOM! I hope he has his dad's height and athletic ability. Only time will tell.

7) He likes to smile and giggle. (when he's not crying of course)

8) He loves his sister! I know he loves Parker because his face lights up when she enters the room. She wakes him up from naps and in the morning by saying "Good Morning, Buddy". He just glows!

9) Sensitive. He can crumble into a million pieces if he hears the word "no" or if he thinks you are upset with him. He really doesn't like it when he doesn't get what he wants. Very much like his sister!

10) Says "mama" for EVERYTHING! (or some version of that) Mama=cup, Mama=mine, Mama=help, Mama=up, you get the picture. Man I can't wait for him to learn another word!

I now understand why people say there is a special bond between boys and their mommas because no matter how much this kid cries or wears me out, I love him SO much. I can't imagine life without him. I truly feel like he completes our family!

{our sweet parker}

10 things to know about Parker:

1) She is 3 years old going on 13! Everything is "I can do it by myself!" Very independent...not sure where she gets it.

2) She thinks she is a REAL princess. Honestly, everything I ask her to do she follows it up with, "do princess play soccer?", "do princess drink milk?", "do princess wear their hair like this?"...

3) She loves her brother SO much!! She is the best big sister and loves him immensely! There is nothing more precious than seeing them together.

4) Strong-willed or stubborn are the words we use. Her teacher used the word "determined" during her parent-teacher conference, but I think it was her nice way of saying this girl knows what she wants and won't stop until she gets it.

5) Servant - she has such a sweet servant's heart! When you ask her to help you she says "sure, I will do that!"

6) Sucks her right thumb and her right thumb only...the left one just doesn't taste right (or something like that)??

7) Loves to twirl and dance. Why did I enrolled her in soccer instead of dance?

8) Her favorite things to eat are: "pizza, bessert, salad, everything to eat" (her words exactly)

9) Her best friends are: " Colton, Connor, Colby, Caden, Marta, everyone...i like everyone" (cousins & aunt)

10) Her favorite things to do are: "play with a puzzle, do special stuff like paper dolls"

She is such a sweet, caring, and determined little girl!

{scripture memorization}

One of the many blogs I follow is Beth Moore's. She has been one of the most challenging spiritual influences in my life. No, I haven't met her, but I have completed almost every single one of her studies and she has such a passion for God's Word that it is contagious! She has challenged all of her blog followers to develop the spirtiual discipline of scripture memorization.

So, I'm on a quest to memorize 2 scriptures a month for the rest of 2009...who's with me? If I memorize one in March and 2 for the rest of the months that will be a total of 19 verses!! I have gone through periods of practicing this discipline in the past, but have not been too consistent for the past (dare I say) 5 years or so. Don't get me wrong, I read and meditate on God's Word, but haven't actually binded it on my heart and practiced saying it over and over and over. So here's my verse for the rest of March...

"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded, YOU NEED TO PERSEVERE so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised." Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV

You can pick any verse that God is speaking to you or use this same one. I have purchased a set of index cards on a spiral and am going to carry that thing with me every where I go. At the end of March, we can all report back and "type" our verse from memory. Who's in?

{Welcome to my world...}

it's not super facinating or fancy, but it's crazy and I'm sure relatable to many! As I thought about the focus of my little space on the web I knew what I didn't want it to be, but couldn't quite pin it down to a specific topic or area. I hope it can help many of you keep in touch who are far away (we miss you Blake and Sarah), I hope it can be entertaining, but most of all I hope it can be encouraging to all the moms, women, and followers of Christ in my life!

I am sure over time this blog will evolve into its own identity, but for now I invite you to join the crazy ride I call my life!

Grab a cup of coffee and Enjoy...
